About the Author
My name is Artjom Pereverzev. I come from Latvia. On June 12 I got my Bachelor of Arts degree in English Philology. My paper was in Swedish, which I wrote during the first half of 2006 when I studied in Sweden.
I am a Christian. I believe that the God of the Bible is the sovereign Creator and Ruler of the universe – the seen and unseen, who in His love has sent His one and only Son Jesus Christ to die in my stead on my cross for my sins. Because of the sacrifice that Jesus paid, He reconciled mankind to God, opening a way for humans to get a glimpse of the divine.
About Erelah Mint
Erelah Mint is the name that I gave this portfolio of mine in particular and the expression of my creative ideas in the wide world of web in general.
The phrase itself is a combination of two words, obviously. Erelah is a Hebrew female name meaning "Angel". I used it in a short story Slowly She Lives, which I wrote for the Swedish language class in March this year.
Mint is just something that I find opposite of vanilla. It is just that I would prefer any flavor to vanilla, really. Mint also happens to be the name of my online journal. Neither Erelah Mint, nor my journal has anything to do with the "curiously successful, website analytics program" Mint by Shaun Inman.
The History Behind
Around 2002 I learned HTML by looking at other people's websites and going "A-ha! So this is what it means!" I was excited at the possibility to know what was under the surface of a nice-looking web page.
It has been a long journey since I discovered the world of "View Source". A lot of things have changed since. But just as back then, I am still excited at the opportunities to learn and grow in whatever I am doing.
The Philosophy Before
I like clarity. I would rather look at a clear but simple, even simplistic, web page, than at a page full of ambiguous concepts and flashy designs. A person I know once said that there should not be anything more than three clicks away on a web page. I agree. If in order to get somewhere, a page visitor needs to uncode the codes and unmask the masks, user-friendly is definitely what your page is not. That is what I help you to avoid.
Web designers are there to help you make your website as accessible to the wide masses as possible. For any visitor, customer or passer-by, in any environment or circumstances, you need an idea to be communicated clearly. And what I am striving for is excellence in clarity.
Here, at Erelah Mint, I try to pour out all of my creativity, ideas and inspiration into one bowl. And if you find the mélange appealing for your own future website or the redesign of the existing one, my job is half-done.
